Otani Elementary School Magnet Special Class in Asahi Town, Yamagata Prefecture, which is rich in nature

Glittering children's eyes

In June 2009, I was invited to Otani Elementary School in Asahi Town, Yamagata Prefecture to give a special magnet class.

Asahi Town, located in the central part of Yamagata Prefecture, has 76% of the town designated as a national park, and is a fruitful town that specializes in delicious wine, including apples and cherries. The Mogami River flows through the town, and it is also a rice field with beautiful rice terraces.

Principal Nagaoka of Otani Elementary School in Asahi Town, which is rich in nature, was the first elementary school principal in Yamagata Prefecture to become a principal from the private sector. It was a unique principal who worked for me.

At this time, I was invited to a special magnet class from Yamagata far away, and I was able to interact with the children who grew up in the wonderful nature of Yamagata, which was a very valuable experience for me.

Classes for 54 students in grades XNUMX to XNUMX proceeded in a friendly manner from beginning to end, and all the children were shining with their eyes on the types of magnets they knew for the first time and how they were used in their daily lives. The state of the class was also introduced on Yamagata TV News and the Asahi Town website.
